Independent researcher company, Gorkana, recently carried out a survey on 500 UK women (aged over 18) and discovered that 48% stated that it is ‘difficult’ or ‘near impossible’ to find a good Beauty Therapist or Hairdresser.
The survey, conducted on behalf of Professional Beauty London, was asked the question ‘Is a really good Beauty Therapist or Hairdresser hard to come by? Northern Ireland topped the chart as the region with the lowest success rate for these findings.
“Sadly we are not surprised by these findings, which is why we are determined to shine a light on this issue at Professional Beauty London,” said Mark Moloney, MD of Professional Beauty London. “Over the two-day event, we are hosting seminar sessions to provide help and support to those salons who are struggling to recruit or retain the right employees,” he added. “We know there are thousands of excellent, highly trained and skilled Hairdressers and Beauty Therapists currently working across the country, but with new salons opening regularly it is very difficult for those businesses to always attract the right employees, or to be able to train up the staff they have to the standards they would like, quickly and efficiently.”
