The British Skin Foundation are delighted to announce that £5000 has been donated by the skin checking App Miiskin after they collaborated in the www.eyesonyourskin.co.uk campaign to battle skin cancer in the UK. The amount was raised due to Miiskin agreeing to donate £1 to the BSF for each UK download of the Miiskin App up to a maximum donation of £5000.
Phil Brady, Head of Partnerships at the British Skin Foundation said: “This is a great start to our combined effort in the fight against skin cancer. The Miiskin app encourages regular self-examination of the skin and moles, which is essential for skin health, as specified by leading experts. We will use the donation to spread the message about the importance of keeping an eye on your skin to more people.”
Miiskin does not try to diagnose skin cancer or tell you that you are at risk or not. The detection of skin cancer is far from simple and should only be undertaken by qualified doctors – not apps. Miiskin simply helps you to keep a regular eye on your skin, so that you can seek medical help if you spot concerning changes.
