Winners of the 2018 Product of the Year Awards were recently announced at an evening ceremony held at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane hosted by comedian Rory Bremner, with entertainment provided by X Factor runner-up, Grace Davies.
With more than 10,637 shoppers choosing the winners across 50 FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) categories, Product of the Year is the world’s largest annual consumer-voted award for product innovation.
Within the beauty sector topping the Moisturiser Category is Garnier’s 3 in 1 Botanical Balm. A multi-function product made with 96% natural origin ingredients and combining the benefits of day cream, night cream and a mask.
Boots scooped-up an Award in the Beauty Mask Category for its Ingredients Sheet Face Mask, which is a fuss-free alternative to clay and cream masks to achieve simple, moisturised ‘spa facial’ results in minutes. “We pride ourselves on creating top quality products at affordable prices and it’s fantastic to be recognised for our achievements,” said Elizabeth Fenner, Assistant Brand Manager at Boots.
Being recognised for their creative on the go items went to Gillette, winning with innovative shaving products for both men and women. The Gillette Venus Snap Cosmo, a stylist compact razor with 5-blade Embrace razor technology and the Gillette Mach 3 Start, which provides ultimate comfort with a Lubrastrip and Duracomfort blades, while the newly developed Aqua-Grip handle provides total control with every shave.
Mike Nolan, CEO of Product of the Year, said: “The Product of the Year logo enables winners to stand out in crowded supermarket aisles in a competitive market and experience an average sales uplift of 10-15%, with some seeing sales increases of 135%, as shoppers trust it as a sure sign of an innovative and quality product.”
